Like many of us, I’m sure you have a few goals that you would like to meet within this new year. Maybe you want to eat healthy or exercise every day. These goals are put in place to make our lives better in some way, whether it be mentally or physically. Have you thought about your spiritual goals yet? Even though these other things may be important, nothing matters without God. Nothing is more important than making sure you have your spiritual life right. There are many passages that deal with this issue. Some of them are…

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Matthew 6:33 NKJV

“Set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth.”

Colossians 3:2 NKJV

“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.”

Matthew 22:37,38 NKJV

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.'”

John 3:3 NKJV

Where are you spiritually? Are you truly submitting yourself to God? Submitting to Him means doing everything He wants you to do even if you don’t like it. Speaking from personal experience, I know it’s a difficult task, but if we can be there for our brothers and sisters in Christ and help them when they’re low spiritually, we can overcome. If we look to God, we can overcome. There is always a way to escape every temptation that we’re faced with.

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV

Maybe you’re not a Christian. What then? Our world is full of false teachings because of sin. We’re humans. We make mistakes, but God doesn’t. He is perfect and cannot lie.

“that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.”

Hebrews 6:18 NKJV

Because of this, we can completely trust His Word and it is the only place to go for answers. We are told to…

1. Hear and Believe

“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”

Mark 16:16 NKJV

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”

Romans 10:14 NKJV

2. Repent

“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'”

Acts 2:38 NKJV

3. Confess

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9 NKJV

4. Be Baptized to Wash Away Sins

“And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”

Acts 22:16 NKJV

God’s plan is perfect and it is the only way we can be saved.

Whether you’re a Christian or not, where are you spiritually? There is no better time than right now to decide to make serving God wholeheartedly, your number one goal. New year, new me, what will you choose to be? Will you choose to be a Christian?
